Find Your Way to Moutcha Bay

Moutcha Bay is mid-way up the west coast of Vancouver Island near Gold River, BC.

Most visitors arrive on Vancouver Island by car ferry. Depart from either the Tsawwassen Terminal (Vancouver) to Duke Point (Nanaimo)(2hrs); or from Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) to Departure Bay, (Nanaimo)(1.5hrs). Reservations are recommended especially if you drive an overheight vehicle or are towing a boat.

Directions:

Once on the Island, head north on Highway 19 which takes you directly to Campbell River. From there head west on Hwy 28, which meanders along lake and mountain sides, for about 91 kms (57 miles). This is considered one of the most spectacular drives on Vancouver Island.

Upon arrival in Gold River, keep heading straight following the signs to Tahsis. This is an active logging road that is well maintained gravel with paving on the steepest hills. Please keep to your side of the road and drive with your headlights on at all times. If towing a boat, make sure your brakes are functioning as the road has grades as much as 18%.

Moutcha Bay Resort is located 43 km north of Gold River. 6 km (3.7 miles) after the Conuma Fish Hatchery you will see our entrance on the left hand side of the road. The gate is open 6AM-11PM. There is a boat launch and parking is available on site.

Gold River has a much improved boat launch. If you bring a heavy boat of 24 feet or more you may wish to launch at Gold River. Please phone us for advice on this issue.
