Moutcha Bay is located next the estuary of the Conuma River on Vancouver Island. This makes it the ideal home-base for the fly fishing enthusiast.
During August the salmon school within Moutcha Bay for their trip up-river. DFO fishing regulations allow retention of Chinook and Coho from Sept 1st to October 15th on the Conuma River.
Freshwater fly fishing on the west coast of Vancouver Island can be as solitary as you want it. Anglers often find themselves alone on the river with the fish, competing with bears for "the big one".
Specially licensed fresh water fishing guides and heli-fishing trips are available for remote and otherwise inaccessible waters. Freshwater and saltwater fishing excursions can be combined into one trip.
Some freshwater anglers will bring a 7-weight or heavier rod for salmon and as light as a 3 or 4 for trout. It is often possible to float a single egg pattern through a run black with salmon to catch trout from among them.
Please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to arrange a professional freshwater fishing guide to assist you, your group or family in truly enjoying this incredible freshwater fishery.
